Lots of moving activity yesterday. We had several MCT friends helping which made the day much easier (and even fun at times). In case you haven't heard, MCT is moving to the Crestline Professional Building (340 Highway 138). This is a temporary move; we are working on having a more central location in the Lake Arrowhead area by next fall. We will officially be conducting business at the Crestline location beginning December 8 (Monday).

MCT recently received a contract from San Bernardino County Children and Family Services to provide clinical supervision for staff. This is a huge opportunity to enhance the MCT 'footprint' as to the unique and comprehensive approach we take to clinical supervision. Why is this important? Every investment we make in a new clinician's clinical quality potentially enhances the services they provide to every client they will ever see. A great responsibility. And opportunity.

Last evening (Thursday) at the Rim of the World School District (ROTWSD) board meeting, a contract was granted MCT to provide counseling and training services at Mountain High School (MHS). MCT is excited to build on the success at MHS we experienced last year when we had a substantial presence at MHS providing similar services. This contract provides "seed money" which will be leveraged together with other MCT contract funding to provide maximum services to MHS students. MCT is pleased that ROTWSD has demonstrated this high level of trust in MCT clinical services and looks forward to beginning its on-campus presence at MHS in the next few days. MCT will also be available to provide onsite tutoring to support MHS existing offerings.

Denise Grissom Bradford, M.Ed., Strengths-Based Academic Director, joins MCT with a long and successful background in education. She has worked in traditional K-12 classrooms as well as virtual educational classes for over twenty years. Denise leads MCT’s Affinities programs, a set of strengths-based programs designed to identify and maximize student strengths that support positive educational and life goals. Denise’s background includes: Mentor Teacher, educational consultant, advanced online instructor, Community-Building Lead Teacher, school administrator, curriculum writer, and foreign exchange student coordinator. Of her present role at MCT, Denise says, “I want to encourage a Strengths-Based academic revolution - a celebration, really – on our mountain. Because of my commitment to helping all students thrive—especially middle school and high school students—including students who are ‘at-risk’ or on probation, I am delighted to work with the MCT team. Our Strengths-Based Programs operate from this positive paradigm: we discover what is right with each student rather than focusing on what is wrong. We identify students' strengths—then coach them in how to use those strengths to develop their academic abilities.” Michael Beavers, MCT CEO, reports, “Denise is an amazing find for our Affinities division and our mountain students. She is our own version of Jenifer Fox, author of Your Child’s Strengths [do a YouTube search if you’re ‘uninitiated’]. We couldn’t be more excited about the potential for transforming the lives of students in our communities through a strengths-based approach.” “At risk” students receive this strengths-based academic help for no charge at some local school sites and at MCT’s Blue Jay office.
